In August 2019 the sports tracking application AlpineReplay suffered a data breach that exposed information for approximately 988 thousand users. The incident involved an unauthorized access to the database containing personal details of athletes and sports enthusiasts. The exposed dataset included full names, usernames, and email addresses along with demographic data such as gender and date of birth. Additionally, the leak contained information about users favorite sports and passwords protected with the Bcrypt hashing algorithm. This data was subsequently shared on various underground forums and hacking communities.
