About this leak
In May 2022 the Australian furniture retailer Amart Furniture suffered a cyber attack targeting its warranty claims system. An unauthorized actor successfully breached the infrastructure and exfiltrated a database containing sensitive customer information. The compromised data included personal identifiers and security credentials. Shortly after the incident the stolen dataset was published on various underground hacking forums. The security breach affected over one hundred thousand customers who had previously interacted with the companies warranty services. Technical analysis revealed that while passwords were protected using BCRYPT hashing the exposure of physical addresses and contact details posed a significant risk of targeted phishing and identity theft for the affected Australian consumers.
