In June 2023 the Russian Mini Football Association forum known as AMFR.ru suffered a significant security breach. An unauthorized party gained access to the community database resulting in the exposure of personal data belonging to approximately 30000 users. The compromised information included sensitive details such as full names and contact information. Technical analysis revealed that user passwords were stored using MD5 hashing with salt which is considered a weak cryptographic protection method by modern standards. The incident highlights vulnerabilities in legacy forum software and the risks associated with storing salted MD5 hashes against brute force attacks.
