In February 2023 the Belarusian online furniture store AmiHome suffered a significant data breach when a database containing approximately 300 thousand user records was exposed. The incident involved the unauthorized access and publication of sensitive customer information. The leaked dataset includes personal identifiers such as full names and contact details along with hashed passwords. Technical analysis reveals that passwords were stored using MD5 hashing with salt which is considered a weak cryptographic protection by modern security standards. The exposure highlights vulnerabilities in the platforms data protection mechanisms and poses a risk of credential stuffing and phishing attacks for the affected users.
