In August 2010 the database of the prominent Russian cybersecurity and hacking forum Antichat was compromised. The breach involved the exposure of sensitive credentials for approximately 40 thousand registered members. The incident occurred due to a vulnerability in the forum software allowing attackers to extract the user database. The leaked information contained usernames and email addresses along with passwords stored as MD5 hashes which were susceptible to cracking. This breach was significant given the community specialized in network security and hacking techniques.
