In early 2012 the popular Bulgarian torrent tracker ArenaBg.com suffered a data breach that exposed the personal information of approximately 21 thousand registered users. The incident involved the unauthorized extraction of database records containing account credentials and technical metadata. The leaked data included user nicknames, email addresses, and IP addresses used during registration or activity. Additionally, the database contained dates of birth, forum statistics such as message counts and profile views. Security analysis revealed that user passwords were stored as MD5 hashes with salt, a cryptographic method that is considered weak by modern security standards and susceptible to cracking.
