In January 2019 the Armor Games online gaming portal suffered a massive data breach that was later sold on a prominent dark web marketplace. The incident involved the compromise of approximately 10.6 million user records. The unauthorized access allowed attackers to exfiltrate databases containing sensitive user details including login credentials and personal information. Security researchers noted that the passwords were stored as salted SHA-1 hashes which are susceptible to cracking. This breach was part of a larger series of hacks affecting multiple popular websites during the same period.
