In April 2018 the online art marketplace Artsy suffered a significant data breach when an unauthorized party gained access to its user database. The breach resulted in the exposure of over 1 million user accounts which were later discovered for sale on darknet marketplaces. The compromised data included sensitive information such as full names, email addresses, IP addresses, and salted SHA-512 password hashes. This incident was part of a broader wave of breaches where a high volume of stolen credentials from various online services appeared on underground forums for purchase.
