In September 2022 the popular Moroccan classifieds platform Avito.ma suffered a significant data breach affecting approximately 2.7 million users. The security incident occurred due to an unauthorized access through the website administrative panel. This breach resulted in the exposure of sensitive personal information including full names and contact details. The leaked data was later circulated on various hacker forums and dark web platforms posing a high risk of phishing and social engineering attacks against the registered users of the service.
