In September 2022 the online store specializing in automobile accessories Avtopilot-ekat.ru experienced a significant security breach. An unauthorized party gained access to the customer database resulting in the public exposure of sensitive information. The leaked data includes personal identifiers such as full names and nicknames alongside contact details like email addresses and phone numbers. Furthermore the breach involved passwords stored as MD5 hashes with salt which poses a risk of decryption through brute force or rainbow table attacks. The incident affected approximately 15 thousand users who had registered on the platform.
