In approximately June 2007 the gaming community website BattleReports.com suffered a data breach that resulted in the exposure of its entire user database. The incident involved the unauthorized access and extraction of sensitive member information including account credentials and personal identifiers. The compromise was linked to vulnerabilities in the forum software used at the time which allowed attackers to gain access to the underlying database records. This leak is considered a classic example of early gaming community compromises where security measures were often insufficient against SQL injection and similar attack vectors.
