The incident involved the unauthorized extraction of sensitive user information from the websites database. The compromised data included user nicknames, email addresses, social network identifiers, and passwords stored as MD5 hashes. This method of password storage is considered weak by modern standards and susceptible to cracking. The leak affected a global audience of gamers who utilized the platform for various online titles.
