In May 2021 the Russian online store BBK Instrument specializing in tools and equipment suffered a data breach. The incident led to the exposure of sensitive user information including personal identifiers and security credentials. The leak originated from an unauthorized access to the customer database which was subsequently shared in public or semi-private circles. The data included bcrypt hashed passwords which provides some level of protection but remains a risk if weak passwords were used.
