In May 2023 the Russian restaurant and delivery network Beerman experienced a data security incident. The breach resulted in the exposure of personal information belonging to approximately 18 thousand customers. The compromised database contained user nicknames, email addresses, and passwords stored as MD5 hashes with salt. Additionally, the leak included full names and timestamps of the last login to the system. The incident highlights vulnerabilities in legacy hashing algorithms and the risks associated with food service delivery platforms in regional markets.
