On July 6 2022 the Russian-Belarusian financial institution Belgazprombank suffered a significant data breach. An unauthorized party gained access to the banks internal systems and extracted a database containing sensitive customer information. The leak affected approximately 35000 unique clients. The compromised data included full names email addresses mobile phone numbers and passwords stored as MD5 hashes with salt. This incident highlights vulnerabilities in banking database security and exposes customers to potential phishing and credential stuffing attacks.
