BibGrief

In early 2019 the online book and literature platform BibGrief suffered a significant data security incident. The breach resulted in the unauthorized exposure of a database containing sensitive user information. The data set was later circulated on various underground hacking forums and darknet marketplaces. The compromised information included user credentials and personal identifiers which could be used for credential stuffing or phishing attacks. Security researchers identified the leak as part of a larger collection of database breaches shared during that period. The vulnerability was likely linked to insufficient database security configurations or an exploit in the web application framework used by the site.
