In July 2016 the Ukrainian torrent tracker Bit-Torrent.kiev.ua suffered a data breach involving its user database. The incident exposed approximately 20 thousand accounts. The leaked information included registered email addresses, unique usernames, IP addresses, and salted MD5 password hashes. This breach allowed unauthorized parties to potentially access user accounts through credential cracking or reuse. The exposure of IP addresses and email accounts tied to torrenting activities posed a privacy risk to the affected community members.
