In July 2019 the popular Minecraft marketplace and resource sharing forum BlackSpigot suffered a significant security breach. An unauthorized party managed to compromise the forum database which resulted in the exposure of sensitive user credentials. The breach included records for approximately 140 thousand members of the community. Data leaked included forum usernames associated email addresses IP addresses and passwords hashed with the bcrypt algorithm. This platform was known for hosting leaked premium Minecraft plugins which often attracted high risk activity and potential targeting by rival groups or security researchers.
