In December 2020 the blog hosting platform Blogigo experienced a significant data breach. The incident involved the exposure of a database containing sensitive information for approximately 850 thousand users. The leaked data included full names email addresses physical addresses dates of birth and passwords stored as MD5 hashes without salt. This lack of salting makes the passwords highly vulnerable to cracking through rainbow table attacks. The breach highlights vulnerabilities in legacy cryptographic practices and puts users at risk of credential stuffing and identity theft.
