In October 2013 the underground marketplace known as Black Market Reloaded suffered a significant data exposure. This darknet platform was a major competitor to the original Silk Road and facilitated the sale of various illicit goods. The breach resulted in the disclosure of sensitive information regarding its user base. Security researchers and community members identified that the leaked database contained records for approximately 330000 accounts. The exposed data included internal site information such as usernames and associated cryptocurrency wallet addresses which were used for transactions on the platform. The incident occurred during a period of high volatility for darknet markets following law enforcement actions against similar sites.
