In March 2021 the Russian retail website BoardakShop specializing in skateboards and related equipment suffered a cyber attack resulting in a data breach. An unauthorized party managed to access the user database and extract sensitive information belonging to approximately 3600 customers. The leaked dataset includes personal identifiers such as full names and contact details along with technical data like IP addresses. Security credentials were also compromised in the form of MD5 salted password hashes which are considered weak by modern cryptographic standards. The incident highlights vulnerabilities in small scale ecommerce platforms handling customer data in the region.
