In August 2022 the video streaming platform BrandNewTube suffered a data breach that exposed the personal information of approximately 345000 subscribers. The incident involved the unauthorized access and extraction of a database containing sensitive user details. The leaked data included email addresses, usernames, IP addresses, and gender information. Furthermore, the breach exposed personal messages and passwords stored as unsalted SHA-1 hashes which are considered highly vulnerable to cracking. This exposure puts users at significant risk of credential stuffing and targeted phishing attacks.
