In July 2022 the Chinese adult forum known as CLF09 or CaoLiuSheQu suffered a significant data security incident. An unauthorized party managed to extract the user database containing sensitive information of approximately 3.2 million individuals. The compromised data included unique usernames and email addresses along with passwords that were stored using the MD5 hashing algorithm. This method of storage is considered weak by modern standards making the accounts vulnerable to credential stuffing and brute force attacks across other platforms.
