The Russian automotive diagnostic service Carmod.ru suffered a significant data breach on May 8 2023. Ukrainian hackers claimed responsibility for the cyberattack and subsequently leaked three database files containing user information orders and reviews. The incident exposed sensitive personal details and technical data for approximately 130000 unique records. The breach involved the extraction of data from internal servers including hashed passwords using the MD5 algorithm which is considered cryptographically weak and susceptible to cracking.
