About this leak

In June 2017 the online survey platform CashCrate suffered a massive data breach involving approximately 6.8 million user accounts. The incident resulted in the exposure of extensive personal information including full names physical addresses and email addresses. Most critically passwords were found to be stored either in plain text or using the weak MD5 hashing algorithm which is easily reversible. The breach allowed unauthorized actors to access a comprehensive database of users who participated in the sites rewards and research programs.
