ChatBooks

In March 2020 the photo printing service ChatBooks suffered a significant data breach. The incident involved an unauthorized access to the company database by a malicious actor. The leaked information included millions of user records containing sensitive credentials and personal identifiers. Security researchers identified that the passwords were hashed using the SHA-512 algorithm. The breach exposed approximately 15 million records in total including 2.5 million unique email addresses. This incident highlighted vulnerabilities in the digital storage of customer data for printing services.
