In early 2019 the CityPrison mobile gaming application suffered a significant data breach involving its user database. The incident resulted from an unsecured server that exposed personal information of players globally. Security researchers discovered the open database which contained sensitive identification and account details. The hack highlighted vulnerabilities in mobile game backend security and how user data is stored in the cloud. Exposed records included identifiers and account creation details that could be used for phishing or social engineering attacks against the affected gaming community.
