Civil Online

In mid-2011 the Chinese engineering and construction portal Civil Online suffered a massive data breach. An unauthorized third party obtained and published a database containing credentials for approximately 7.8 million users. The leaked information included registered email addresses, system usernames, originating IP addresses, and passwords stored in a vulnerable format. This incident was part of a series of large-scale leaks affecting Chinese web services during that period, highlighting significant security gaps in regional infrastructure at the time.
