In early 2016 the German gaming and software development community forum known as Codemasters Project suffered a significant data breach. The incident led to the exposure of the entire user database including sensitive credentials. The breach was attributed to vulnerabilities in the forum software which allowed unauthorized actors to extract member information. This leak circulated widely in the underground hacking community and was later indexed by major breach notification services to inform affected users about the compromise of their personal data.
