In August 2023 an Angolan geographical data platform Comissao de Moradores experienced a security incident resulting in the exposure of user information. The breach impacted approximately 700 registered accounts. The compromised data includes sensitive credentials such as email addresses and full names alongside platform specific nicknames. Furthermore user security was compromised by the leak of passwords stored in the outdated and insecure MD5 hash format which is highly susceptible to decryption via brute force or rainbow table attacks.
