In 2022 the international science fiction and literature community Cosforums was compromised. The incident resulted in the exposure of approximately 100000 user records. The breach involved the extraction of sensitive database tables containing account credentials and personal identifiers. Technical analysis suggests the data was obtained through unauthorized access to the forum server. Exposed credentials included MD5 salted hashes which are considered cryptographically weak by modern standards. Additional metadata such as ICQ numbers and site-specific user details were also released in the leak.
