In late 2022 the bitcoin trading platform Cryptosam.net suffered a data security incident resulting in the exposure of user credentials. The breach affected approximately 52000 individuals and involved the compromise of email addresses and passwords stored in plain text. Analysis suggests the data may have been extracted from system logs or through unauthorized access to the backend database. This leak poses a significant risk as the exposed passwords can be used for credential stuffing attacks against other financial services.
