In early 2021 the dating platform DateHotBrunettes suffered a significant security breach resulting in the exposure of sensitive user information. The incident impacted over one million registered members of the niche dating network. Analysis of the leaked data indicates that the breach occurred through unauthorized access to the backend database. Exposed records include personal identification details and account security credentials. The passwords were stored using the weak MD5 hashing algorithm which is highly susceptible to cracking and brute force attacks. This compromise poses a high risk of credential stuffing and identity theft for the affected users.
