DatPiff

In late 2021 the popular mixtape hosting platform DatPiff suffered a significant data breach involving approximately 7.5 million user accounts. The incident originated from a compromised database that was initially offered for sale on underground criminal forums before being released publicly for free. The data dump contained sensitive user information including email addresses and passwords stored in plain text format. This security failure exposed millions of hip hop fans to potential credential stuffing and phishing attacks as the credentials were not properly hashed or encrypted by the service providers.
