In July 2016 the online game Dawn of the Dragons suffered a significant data breach affecting approximately 293 thousand players. The incident involved the exposure of sensitive user information stored in their vBulletin forum database. The breach occurred due to vulnerabilities in the forum software which allowed unauthorized access to member records. Exposed data included usernames email addresses IP addresses dates of birth and salted MD5 passwords. The game was owned by 5th Planet Games and has since been officially closed. This leak poses risks of credential stuffing and identity theft for former players who used similar passwords on other platforms.
