About this leak

In July 2016 the database of the forum dedicated to database developers and administrators known as DBForums was compromised. The security breach resulted in the exposure of approximately 363 thousand user records. The leaked data contained sensitive information including usernames email addresses and IP addresses. Additionally passwords were stored using the weak MD5 hashing algorithm which is highly susceptible to cracking and brute force attacks. The incident highlights the risks of using outdated cryptographic methods for storing user credentials on community platforms.
