DemonForums

In February 2019 the hacking forum known as DemonForums suffered a significant data breach. The incident resulted in the exposure of sensitive user information from its database. The compromise included personal identifiers and security credentials for a large number of community members. Security researchers discovered that the leaked data contained unique email addresses along with corresponding usernames. Additionally passwords were found to be stored as MD5 hashes with salts which are considered computationally weak by modern standards. This breach is typical of attacks targeting underground communities where hackers themselves become targets of data exfiltration for the purpose of credential stuffing or reconnaissance.
