Devil-Torrents

In January 2021 the pirate BitTorrent tracker Devil-Torrents suffered a significant security breach resulting in the exposure of its user database. The incident involved the unauthorized access and subsequent public release of personal information belonging to approximately 160000 members. The leaked data included sensitive details such as account nicknames, email addresses, and passwords stored as MD5 hashes which are susceptible to cracking. Additionally, user IP addresses and various internal site-related personal metrics were compromised during this event. The breach highlights the security risks associated with using niche file-sharing communities and the dangers of using weak hashing algorithms for credential storage.
