In early 2022 the Digital Banking Report platform suffered a security breach orchestrated by a threat actor known as Captain Blackbeard. The incident occurred due to credential stuffing or credential reuse involving the services CPanel accounts. This vulnerability allowed the attacker to gain unauthorized access to the administrative backend and extract the user database. The leaked records include sensitive personal information such as full names and email addresses alongside plain text or weakly hashed passwords for approximately 3300 registered users.
