The subtitle sharing platform DivXSubTitles experienced a significant security breach around 2010. The incident resulted in the unauthorized exposure of a database containing approximately 783000 user accounts. The compromise included sensitive information such as email addresses and usernames. Most critically the database stored passwords in plain text format which significantly increased the risk for users who reused these credentials across other online services. The website has since become inactive following the incident.
