In October 2022 the DoomWorld gaming community forum suffered a data breach that exposed the personal information of approximately 34 thousand registered members. The incident involved the unauthorized access and disclosure of sensitive user database records. The leaked data contained a variety of technical and personal identifiers including account usernames and email addresses. Additionally the breach included IP addresses and security credentials in the form of bcrypt hashed passwords which are generally considered resistant to brute force but still pose a risk if weak passwords were used by members.
