In August 2013 the fantasy MMORPG DragonNest experienced a significant security breach affecting approximately 3.1 million players. The incident involved the unauthorized acquisition of a database containing sensitive user information. The compromised data included user biographies, email addresses, gender details, geographical locations, IP addresses, usernames, and passwords stored as plain text hashes. This breach impacted the gaming community by exposing personal identifiers and credentials used for accessing the online game environment.
