About this leak
In December 2018 the video sharing service Dubsmash suffered a massive data breach that compromised millions of user accounts. The incident was part of a larger series of hacks involving multiple online services. The stolen data included unique email addresses, usernames, and passwords hashed with the PBKDF2 algorithm. In early 2019 the database was put up for sale on dark web marketplaces and eventually leaked into the public domain. This breach remains one of the largest video social platform compromises in history based on the volume of unique email addresses exposed.
