In January 2021 the adult forum known as Eccie suffered a data breach that exposed the personal information of approximately 547 thousand users. The incident involved the unauthorized access and extraction of a database containing sensitive member details. The leaked data included email addresses, usernames, and IP addresses along with passwords stored as MD5 hashes. This security failure put a large number of users at risk of credential stuffing and targeted phishing attacks especially given the sensitive nature of the platform content.
