In early 2024 information surfaced regarding a data breach involving the Russian book publishing service Editus. The leaked database appears to originate from February 2022 and contains sensitive customer information. The incident exposed personal details of approximately 12 thousand clients including contact information and security credentials stored as SHA1 hashes. This exposure puts users at risk of credential stuffing and phishing attacks especially since the data includes both email addresses and hashed passwords.
