In May 2024 the Russian educational portal EduMarket.ru experienced a significant security breach resulting in the exposure of user data. Two distinct database versions were leaked into the public domain containing approximately one million records each. The compromise involved unauthorized access to the platform backend. The exposed information includes sensitive personal details such as mobile numbers and email addresses along with full names and dates of birth. Most critically the leak included user passwords stored in plain text format which poses a high risk of account takeover across multiple platforms for the affected users.
