In January 2016 the marketing community platform Elevrus experienced a significant data breach. The incident resulted in the unauthorized exposure of personal user information including full names and contact details. The security failure was particularly severe because user passwords were stored in plaintext format making them immediately accessible to attackers. The breach impacted approximately 200 thousand members of the community and included technical metadata such as IP addresses and regional location data.
