Eprice

In January 2021 the Taiwanese e-commerce platform Eprice experienced a significant security breach resulting in the exposure of approximately 460 thousand user records. The incident involved unauthorized access to the company database where sensitive information was stored without adequate encryption. The leaked data included highly sensitive details such as plain text passwords and secret questions with their corresponding answers. This breach posed a severe risk to users as the information could be used for account takeover and identity theft across multiple services due to the lack of hashing for credentials.
