ExcaliburCraft a prominent Russian Minecraft server network suffered a significant security breach in early 2018. An unauthorized party gained access to the forum database resulting in the exposure of sensitive user information. The breach included email addresses, usernames, IP addresses, site balances, and voting statistics. Highly concerning was the discovery that passwords were stored as MD5 hashes without salt making them highly vulnerable to cracking. Following the incident the administration performed a mandatory password reset for all affected accounts to mitigate further unauthorized access.
