In late 2020 the Japanese family photo sharing service Famm experienced a significant data breach affecting approximately 1.3 million records. The incident exposed sensitive personal information of users including a large number of unique email addresses and hashed passwords. The leak also contained demographic details and names of clients using the platform. Security researchers identified the exposure which likely stemmed from a misconfigured database or unauthorized access to the company backend systems. The data was later shared within the security community and on various hacking forums.
